Active Protection Systems (APS) are critical defence technologies designed to detect, neutralize, and counter threats such as incoming projectiles, rockets, and anti-tank guided missiles. APS works through a combination of detection, disruption, and interception mechanisms, ensuring the safety of both armoured vehicles and the personnel within.
The RADAR system is responsible for detecting and tracking potential threats in real-time. Using high-frequency electromagnetic waves, RADAR detects objects and tracks their trajectory.
Jammers are designed to deceive or disrupt the guidance systems of incoming threats,
rendering them ineffective or causing them to veer off course. This is typically referred to as a „softkill“ method of defense.
Counter measures are active interceptive systems that are deployed to physically neutralize or destroy incoming threats. These systems include a variety of mechanisms such as projectiles, explosive devices, or directed energy weapons.
